Student gathered in a circle

The 5/6 Crew started the week in Math by finishing up a yearly review. In ELA, we read a story that allowed us to focus on character studies and the functions of characters in a story. We finished our year-long study of South Sudan by researching and sharing interesting facts about Sudan and learning about the amazing Baobab Tree, also known as the Tree of Life.

Students water-colored the trees, and then we watched the documentary Lost Boys of Sudan. We also took our last spelling test of the year. In Current Events, we learned that the US government is suing Ticketmaster's parent company, Live Nation, in a groundbreaking lawsuit. The antitrust action alleges that Live Nation abused its industry dominance to harm fans nationwide for years.

We also spent time working on signs and labels for our Bake Sale this Sunday at Gualala Supermarket from 12-2 pm. 100% of the profits will be donated to the John Dau Foundation (https://www.johndaufoundation.com/). Please come support these kids, their learning, and their hard effort at the bake sale!
